Barau FC’s Dominic Iorfa rejects rift claims and backs team to end winless run

Barau FC general manager Dominic Iorfa has denied reports of a disagreement with technical adviser Eugene Agagbe, saying his recent involvement in training was prompted by the coach’s absence.

Speculation about tension between the two officials grew after Iorfa was seen on the bench during Barau FC’s latest matches. The former Nigeria international said, however, that there was no dispute and that he had only stepped in to help maintain the squad’s fitness.

“There is no reason to suggest that there is a rift between us. The speculation may have arisen following reports that I took charge of the team’s training session after our encounter against Rangers International,” Iorfa told the club’s media.

“The truth is that Coach Eugene Agagbe was away attending his CAF A Licence course, and I had to oversee the team’s fitness training in his absence.

“As General Manager, I believe in doing whatever is necessary to ensure that the team remains in good shape and continues to make progress.”

Barau FC have gone five consecutive Nigeria Premier Football League matches without a win, but Iorfa has called on supporters to remain patient as the club works to improve its results.

The general manager said the team was still developing and believed its position in the league reflected the progress made so far.

“I want our supporters to remain patient and continue to support the team. We are still building, and there is a lot of work to be done,” he said.

“We have demonstrated that we can compete in this league, and our current position reflects the progress we have made.”

Iorfa also praised the competitiveness of the NPFL and the standard of officiating, pointing to the number of points won by visiting teams as evidence of the balance across the league.

“I also commend the competitive nature of the NPFL and the quality of officiating. Results across the league have demonstrated that visiting teams can earn points on the road, and Barau FC have benefited from this competitive balance,” he said.

He said Barau FC would approach their next fixtures with greater determination as they seek to return to winning form and end the season strongly.

“We will continue to work hard, approach our subsequent fixtures with renewed determination and strive to return to winning ways.

“I assure our supporters that the club remains firmly on course, and we are determined to finish the season strongly. I urge everyone to support the team responsibly and avoid actions capable of undermining our progress.”
