Fabian Hurzeler reportedly has no interest in leaving Brighton for Manchester United, despite emerging as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick.
United admire the 33-year-old German coach, who has guided Brighton to consecutive eighth-place Premier League finishes.
Transfer insider Graeme Bailey previously reported that director of football Jason Wilcox considers Hurzeler a candidate should United decide to change managers.
However, talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs reported on October 22 that Hurzeler does not want to leave Brighton for Manchester United.
Jacobs wrote on X, as reported by TEAMtalk , “BREAKING: Fabian Hurzeler is not interested in leaving Brighton for Manchester United.
“Hurzeler one of the names appreciated in case Michael Carrick departs.
“Julian Nagelsmann also viewed as one of the leading contenders.”
Other names reportedly appreciated by United include Unai Emery, Antonio Conte, Eddie Howe, Simone Inzaghi and Cesc Fabregas.
Emery previously featured in United’s managerial process before Carrick’s appointment, although persuading him to leave Aston Villa could prove difficult.
Despite growing pressure following United’s humiliating 4-1 defeat against Como, Wilcox reportedly continues backing Carrick for now.
TEAMtalk reports that United are not planning an immediate managerial change, although their upcoming fixtures could prove decisive.
Bailey said: “Crucially, sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Wilcox is still backing Carrick at this stage.”
United face Bournemouth, Chelsea and Aston Villa in a demanding run before the November international break.
They are also scheduled to meet Roma in the Champions League, giving Carrick opportunities to improve results and ease growing scrutiny.
United have collected just seven points from seven Premier League matches this season, leaving Carrick under increasing pressure.
For now, Hurzeler appears unlikely to take the job, while Carrick retains support as United assess their next steps.
