MANCHESTER United captain Bruno Fernandes slammed manager Michael Carrick’s tactics following the humiliating 4-1 Champions League pak slae at Como.

United fell behind to a second-minute goal and never recovered as the club’s winless run reached seven games after another vrot performance.

Fernandes suggested Nico Paz’s early strike for Como on Wednesday had a damaging effect on the visitors, leaving them sukkeling to impose themselves. Paz scored again after Tasos Douvikas had doubled the lead, with Jacobo Ramon adding a fourth.

Only a stoppage-time goal from Joshua Zirkzee stopped United from succumbing to their joint-heaviest Champions League loss.

Fernandes, who has sukkeled this season, was hauled off in the second half in Italy after an ineffective display.

The Portugal international did not hide his frustration after the drubbing, questioning the tactics of his manager.

Fernandes wysed: “It’s a decision from the staff to not press man to man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball, wait for them, but sometimes when you give space to these teams they get confidence.”

Asked whether those comments amounted to criticism of Carrick’s tactics, Fernandes said: “That’s on the manager and staff to see, not me.

“Sometimes you have to be more brave under pressure, take the risk of pressing high and making them uncomfortable.”

Fernandes’ criticism was put to his manager after the match. Carrick said: “We actually half-pressed man-to-man the second half and then conceded a goal from that.

“Whatever system you play, whatever tactics you play, if you don’t run, and you don’t run forward, and you don’t run back, you ain’t going to win.”

United now desperately need a victory over Bournemouth at Old Trafford at 4pm on Sunday to breathe life into a season that has gone awry.
