McHenry, now a press advisor at the State Department, was watching the Washington Wizards play the Milwaukee Bucks when an argument with nearby fans escalated into a beverage-throwing confrontation, according to TMZ.
Video the outlet obtained shows McHenry throwing her drink at someone in the stands before leaving her seat amid a hostile crowd reaction.
The sources further alleged that the spectators directed misogynistic comments at McHenry herself and threw objects at her during the dispute.
However, they could not identify the precise remark or action that led McHenry to throw her drink.
As McHenry left the seating area, fans showered her with boos. Some even threw rally towels towards her.
The former sports reporter responded by waving and blowing kisses toward the jeering crowd. Additional footage from the social media post above captured her in a tense exchange with an arena security guard who appeared to be instructing her to exit the venue.
McHenry was heard questioning, “What did I do?” before walking out the door alongside security.
Nonetheless, the outlet’s sources disputed that McHenry was ejected, instead saying that she voluntarily left for the bar. Her companion reportedly stayed at the game before rejoining her later on.
