Barcelona have identified Aston Villa midfielder Johan Manzambi as a potential transfer target, with sporting director Deco expected to assess the youngster during Tuesday’s Champions League encounter.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, as reports Barca Universal, the 21-year-old has attracted admiration from Barcelona’s sporting department following his impressive performances since arriving in the Premier League.
Manzambi has registered three goals and four assists in eight appearances this season, averaging a goal contribution every 70 minutes.
His development has attracted attention across Europe, with Barcelona reportedly considering him as a possible addition to their midfield options.
Deco will have an opportunity to observe the Switzerland international when Aston Villa visit the Spotify Camp Nou, although any potential transfer would require significant financial investment.
Manzambi established himself as one of Europe’s exciting young midfielders during his breakthrough campaign at Freiburg last season.
The Swiss international recorded seven goals and nine assists, earning UEFA’s Europa League Revelation of the Season award for 2025-26.
He also impressed internationally, registering three goals and two assists for Switzerland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Aston Villa subsequently secured his services from Freiburg for approximately €60 million, with additional payments potentially increasing the overall transfer package.
His long-term contract at Villa Park further complicates Barcelona’s pursuit, giving the Premier League club a strong negotiating position.
Nevertheless, his impressive performances have made him an attractive prospect for Barcelona.
The Catalan giants would require considerable financial backing to convince Villa to consider selling the highly-rated midfielder.
