Samuel Chukwueze has successful hip surgery, AC Milan confirm

Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze has undergone successful surgery on a ruptured tendon in his left hip, AC Milan have confirmed.

The operation was carried out in London on Wednesday by Professor Ernest Schilders, with AC Milan doctor Stefano Mazzoni in attendance.

“AC Milan confirms that Samuel Chukwueze has undergone surgery in London to repair a ruptured tendon of the tensor fasciae latae muscle in his left hip,” the Serie A club said in a statement.

“The operation, performed by Professor Ernest Schilders with Dr Stefano Mazzoni in attendance, was successful.”

Chukwueze will return to Italy and begin his rehabilitation programme after arriving back from England.

The 27-year-old is expected to be unavailable until the end of the year, meaning he will miss Nigeria’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars.

Chukwueze suffered the injury last month while preparing for AC Milan’s UEFA Europa League match against Bournemouth.

The former Villarreal player had started the season positively after returning from a loan spell at Fulham. He has made eight appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri this season, providing two assists.
