Bryce James finally made his long-awaited official college basketball debut on Monday when Arizona faced UCLA in their season opener. Bryce’s father, LeBron James, and elder brother, Bronny James, just so happened to also be in action in the NBA on the night, so which family member ended up shining brightest? Well, let’s have a look.

We start with the patriarch, and LeBron helped the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Chicago Bulls 126-107 at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The 41-year-old put in a solid showing, finishing with 15 points (6-13 FG), seven rebounds, nine assists, and one steal against the Bulls.

The most notable moment of LeBron’s night, though, came when he ran into a fan holding a cup of wine after chasing a loose ball. The 22-time All-Star hilariously chose to have a sip before heading back onto the court, and the moment went viral.

Bronny’s night with the Los Angeles Lakers wasn’t quite as eventful, though. The 22-year-old recorded two points (1-1 FG) and one block off the bench as the Lakers beat the Miami Heat 138-117 at Crypto.com Arena.

Bronny and some of the other reserves had notably played poorly in Sunday’s 131-125 win over the Toronto Raptors. They nearly blew a double-digit lead in the closing stages, which was why he only played a minute against the Heat. Bronny is going to have to regain Lakers head coach JJ Redick’s trust, and you wonder how long that will take.

Lastly, we get to Bryce, who was one of the Wildcats’ starters against the Bruins in that big clash at T-Mobile Arena. The 19-year-old started off with a bang, dishing a no-look assist to Ivan Kharchenkov for the game’s first basket.

This unfortunately proved to be Bryce’s only highlight. He scored zero points (0-3 FG) and had one assist in just six minutes as the Wildcats lost 84-75. Bryce was barely on the court, with reserve JJ Mandaquit playing 32 minutes instead. There has been no word of an injury, so this decision by head coach Tommy Lloyd has raised eyebrows.

Bryce, of course, redshirted his freshman year at Arizona. It was seen as the right move for his development, and it will be interesting to see how he fares as the season progresses.

Ultimately, LeBron proved to be the most impressive member of the James family on the basketball court on Monday. That’s likely to remain the case the rest of the season, despite him not being a spring chicken like his sons.
