Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch stayed behind on Merseyside for heel injury treatment when the Reds flew to Turkey.
When a 22-man Liverpool squad boarded their flight at John Lennon Airport on Tuesday, Ryan Gravenberch did not join them. Instead of flying to Istanbul to face Fenerbahce, the 24 year old stayed at the AXA Training Centre for treatment. As per Goal.com, a heel injury had ruled him out of Wednesday’s Champions League tie.
In fact, the problem first flared up before Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal at Anfield. Speaking to the Liverpool website, boss Andoni Iraola revealed that the Dutchman has a small bone issue. Iraola said, “It is a fracture of the heel, and it is about the pain.” He added, “The other day against Arsenal he was warming up, and he was not fully confident, and he has not improved.”
Because the issue comes down to pain tolerance, club doctors are checking on him each morning at Kirkby. Liverpool visit Crystal Palace in the league on Sunday, and Iraola hopes his midfielder has a shot at making that trip. The coach said, “Every day we ask him, every day we see how he is. If he can be available for the weekend, lovely, he would be a very good help for us.”

Meanwhile, three defenders remain in the treatment room on Merseyside. Jeremie Frimpong is still recovering from the muscle strain he picked up against Brentford. Furthermore, Conor Bradley is working back from knee surgery while Giovanni Leoni faces a long road back from a torn knee ligament.
