With the Seattle Sounders’ season suddenly hanging in the balance, they’ll face the top statistical team in the league in the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Sounders can theoretically clinch a playoff spot, though, if a win is combined with a Portland Timbers’ loss. There is also some precedent, as the Sounders beat the Whitecaps 3–0 at BC Place in Concacaf Champions Cup play earlier this year.
Here’s what you need to know:
OUT: Pedro de la Vega — Quad; Yeimar Gómez Andrade — Hamstring; Nikola Petković — Knee
QUESTIONABLE: Danny Musovski — Head
OUT: Jeevan Badwal — Hamstring; Kenji Cabrera — Foot; Andrés Cubas — Ankle; Rayan Elloumi — Suspended; Belal Halbouni — Knee; Emmanuel Sabbi — Ankle
0 – The Sounders have yet to claim a point in any of their previous three Cascadia Cup matches. They are trying to avoid becoming the first team to do that during the MLS era of the regional competition. Conversely, the Whitecaps are attempting to become the first team to win all their Cascadia Cup matches.
+28.8 – The Whitecaps’ +28.8 xGD is more than 10 higher than any other team and 16.4 higher than Supporters’ Shield-winning Nashville SC.
