Chelsea and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has named Erling Haaland as the player he would trust to take a penalty if his life depended on it.

Asked who he would select in that situation, Martinez replied: “Haaland.”

He was then asked who he would choose to save a penalty if his life depended on the goalkeeper making the stop.

“Me!” Martinez said, in comments reported by The Touchline from the Los Edul programme.

Martinez has won the World Cup with Argentina, helping the Albiceleste beat France on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the 2022 final.

Argentina reached the World Cup final this year but lost 1-0 to Spain after 120 minutes.
