Black Stars interim assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has indicated that the technical team is carefully assessing available players as Ghana prepares for its crucial double-header against Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Tanko says the team’s priority is to identify and select players who can make meaningful contributions to the national side as the technical team works towards assembling a competitive squad for the two encounters.
The experienced Ghanaian coach stressed that the selection process will focus on players capable of strengthening the team and helping the Black Stars achieve their objectives in the upcoming qualifiers.
His comments come at a time when attention is shifting towards Ghana’s preparations for the Somalia fixtures, with the interim technical team expected to make important decisions regarding squad composition, player form and tactical suitability.
Tanko emphasised that the technical team is looking at quality and the ability of individuals to contribute to the team’s overall performance rather than making selections without carefully considering what each player brings to the squad.
Speaking to 3Sports, the Black Stars interim assistant coach said:
