Ten prominent corporations are set to exchange boardroom battles for football glory as the third edition of the Corporate Stars League commences on Saturday, 31st October 2026. Over five weekends, participating organisations will compete for supremacy on the pitch, combining sporting rivalry with corporate networking opportunities.
Defending champions Norrenberger face a formidable challenge from new contenders eager to claim the title. Victor Olamide Mattews, representing Norrenberger, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to retain their crown, stating it “will be no easy task” to stop them.
Telecommunications giant MTN, aiming for a stronger performance this season, returns with renewed determination. Abubakar Bako, their representative, hopes to ensure MTN’s “presence is felt across the competition.” The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) will also be testing its strength on the pitch, alongside the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PI-CNG & EV), making its debut. David Idakwo of PI-CNG & EV affirmed the team’s readiness to “learn and challenge established conventions.”
Hassan Haruna of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) expects their financial discipline to translate into “tactical precision” and a winning performance. Hospitality brand Beer and Barn will also participate, promising to bring its unique flavour to the tournament both on and off the pitch with entertainment and dining options.
The Nigeria Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), the Pension Commission (PenCom), and Jaiz Bank are also among the competing organisations, adding to the pre-tournament banter and rivalries.
Misal Dikko, 5Stars Operations Manager, highlighted the increased competition and heightened expectations for this year’s tournament. “We are going to have an interesting competition, especially with the number of participating teams and the level of expectations from management,” Dikko stated, noting the strong logistical support for the teams.
Beyond the football, the Corporate Stars League serves as a platform for camaraderie, networking, and business development, where corporate ambition seeks to translate into sporting success.
