Minnesota Timberwolves point guard LaMelo Ball welcomed his first child, LaOne, earlier this year, but there’s one aspect of parenting he is not involved with.

In an interview with Ernie Johnson for NBA Tip-Off, as seen below, the 25-year-old NBA star spoke about making his debut with the Timberwolves and how he developed his signature one-leg three-pointer. “So, are you a diaper changer, man?” Johnson asked Ball when the topic of him becoming a father came up. “Oh, nah,” he replied. “Y girl do all that. She do all that, you know what I’m saying? We got a good game plan going on. I know what I got to do to bring to the table… I done did it before, it’s just not my job.”

In his debut game with the Timberwolves, who played against the Miami Heat on Wednesday (Oct. 21), Ball scored 21 points during his 29 minutes on the court. Alongside Timberwolves veteran Anthony Edwards, who has been with the team since 2020 and scored 45 points on Wednesday, it’s looking to be an exciting season for Minnesota fans.

Earlier this year, LaMelo Ball and Ana Montana, real name Analicia Chaves, welcomed their first child together, who they named LaOne. “Welcoming LaOne into the world has changed our hearts in the best way,” the couple shared in a statement. “Becoming parents has given us an entirely new perspective on love, purpose, legacy and what truly matters most… He has brought so much happiness and meaning into our lives. We’re embracing this new chapter with so much love and excitement.”

To coincide with the announcement of their first child together, Montana also revealed the launch of I Am Fertility, a nonprofit aimed at supporting women undergoing fertility challenges and IVF treatment. More recently, LaMelo Ball was dragged online after he gave fans a house tour that some compared to “a vape shop” and a Dave & Buster’s restaurant.
