Frenkie de Jong can celebrate making his 300th appearance in blaugrana, as he achieved the notable number on a Champions League night at the Spotify Camp Nou in the 3-0 win against Aston Villa.
The milestone was celebrated with a special jersey for the occasion with F. de Jong 300 on the back. The Dutchman posed for a photo with this teammates after the match against the English side to mark the moment.
Frenkie leads the way for players from the Netherlands. His 300 appearances sees him well out in front for all-time appearances for FC Barcelona ahead of second-placed Philip Cocu with 292 and Ronald Koeman with 264. The midfielder moved into first place on this metric in the blaugranes' LaLiga win against Celta de Vigo last season.
The former Ajax player is now in his eighth season at Barça. Joining back in the 2019/20 season, De Jong has developed his quality on the ball in midfield, especially in the central role. However, he has also played at the heart of the defence, most recently in the great game against Alavés when Flick's side got back to winning ways (6-1).
The match against Aston Villa was the number 21's third appearance this season. He returned for the Clásico on 25 October after a right knee ligament. He played for just over a quarter of an hour against Real Madrid, started and played 82 minutes against Alavés, and now got XX minutes against the English side.
Frenkie de Jong now has 300 appearances for FC Barcelona, a total he will be hoping to add to this season to reaffirm his position as the Netherlands player with the most all-time appearances for the Club.
