Joe Cole tells Bruno Fernandes to keep Michael Carrick criticism private

Former Manchester United defender Joe Cole has criticised Bruno Fernandes after the midfielder questioned Michael Carrick’s defensive instructions.

Fernandes said Carrick had asked Manchester United’s players to place insufficient emphasis on defending during their Champions League match against Como.

Joe Cole responded by saying: “If Fernandes is unhappy with Carrick, he can tell his wife.”

Manchester United were beaten 4-1 by Como in the match.

After 12 rounds, Manchester United have three points and sit 21st in the league table.
