Nigerian football administrator Samson Adamu has been appointed General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football.
CAF announced the appointment on its website on Sunday, after what it called a fair recruitment process in which the job was widely advertised and several candidates were interviewed.
Adamu had been acting in the role since March, after Veron Mosengo-Omba resigned.
Mosengo-Omba later became president of the football federation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Adamu has been at CAF for eight years.
He joined in 2018 as Director of Competitions and later became Director of Tournaments and Events.
He helped run several major continental competitions, including the Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe praised his experience.
Adamu holds a master's degree from the FIFA programme in international management, law and humanities of sport.
He will oversee CAF's day to day running and help carry out its main goals.
He is the son of Amos Adamu, a former Director of Sports in the Ministry of Sports and a former FIFA Executive Committee member.
