Liverpool centre-back Ronald Araujo has spoken about a conversation with his fellow Uruguay international and former Reds striker Darwin Nunez.

The exchange concerned the pair’s goalscoring records during their time at the Merseyside club. Araujo scored twice in 11 appearances for Liverpool, while Nunez found the net 40 times in 143 matches.

Nunez joined Liverpool in a major transfer in 2022, but failed to meet expectations during his three years with the English side. He subsequently left the club for Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal.

Araujo and Nunez are both Uruguay internationals, and the defender’s account focused on a joke made by the former Liverpool forward about their respective goalscoring numbers.
