Leicester City may not be a Premier League club in name anymore but they are still reportedly rivalling the likes of Manchester United and Roma for Swedish talent Oliver Mansson.

The youngster has been catching the eye in the Allsvenskan and has broken into the first-team this campaign.

Sports Witness say that Mansson has been scouted by Watford, Leicester, Man United and Roma among others. But who is the promising star and what could he bring to the King Power Stadium?

Who is Oliver Mansson?

Oliver Mansson is a 17-year-old midfielder who plays for Swedish side IKF Goteborg. Standing at exactly 6’0″ tall, he is already one of the taller players for his height and would add an extra dimension from set pieces.

Born on 4 August 2009, if he were to join the Foxes he would be one of the youngest first-team members alongside Louis Page.

Across the season he has made 19 appearances in all competitions and featured for Sweden’s U17 national team.

What is Oliver Mansson’s style of play?

Sports Radar’s deep dive into the central midfielder’s playing style suggests that he is comfortable in possession, which is a huge priority for Russell Martin’s side.

One thing that this Leicester side, aside from John Lundstram, lacks, is aggression. Mansson will bring that to the team and his physicality will only improve as he gets older.

Furthermore, his ability to be able to operate in the number six or eight role. If he was to be compared to anyone in the Leicester squad in playing style, it would be Sammy Braybrooke.

What has Oliver Mansson said about transfer speculation?

A 17-year-old hearing that he is being watched by some of the biggest clubs is naturally going to catch his attention.

While he is yet to acknowledge Leicester’s rumoured interest, he has admitted that his dream is to play in one of the best clubs in the world.

He told Sportbladet: “It’s great that the clubs are here. If they look at me, it’s a confirmation for me that I’ve done well. But I’m focusing on the here and now.

“It’s great fun, it gives me an extra boost in self-confidence. Then things often go better on the field too. They are huge clubs. Playing for one of them one day is a dream, of course.”
