Silver Ladies charged with misconduct
CONTROVERSY—A Silver Ladies official confronts match officials

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership defending champions Silver Strikers Ladies have been charged with two counts of misconduct.

This follows an incident that happened after their 3-2 loss to Civil Service United Women in the NBM Women’s Premiership at Silver Stadium on October 17, 2026.

The Football Association of Malawi (Fam), through its Competitions Committee, on Wednesday opened proceedings against Silver Ladies.

A Fam statement says a supporter wearing Silver colours allegedly threw a bottle of water at match officials as they headed into the tunnel that leads to the dressing room after the match.

The association says the incident exposed match officials to physical harm.

“The club faces charges of responsibility for supporter misconduct and failure to ensure order and security at the match venue. The first count relates to the alleged throwing of an object at match officials, contrary to Article 29.1, read together with Article 29.1.1 and 29.9.1, of the NBM Women’s Premiership Rules and Regulations,” Fam statement reads.

Silver have been given 48 hours to respond to the matter.

When contacted Thursday, Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba asked for ample time before he could comment on the matter.

The defending champions are second on the log table with nine points from five matches, behind leaders Civil Women on goal difference.

The men’s team was also fined K4 million by Super League of Malawi (Sulom) after they were found guilty on two counts of misconduct following an incident that happened during an FDH Bank Premiership match against Karonga United at the same venue.
