Manchester City remain seventh in the UEFA Champions League standings despite recording a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig in Germany on Wednesday.
The Premier League side moved to nine points after collecting their third win in four league-phase matches, but the result was not enough to lift them into the top six.
Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal in the 78th minute, taking his tally against Leipzig to 13 goals in nine appearances.
City had taken the lead through an own goal by Castello Lukeba before Ridle Baku restored parity shortly after the interval.
Enzo Fernandez put the visitors ahead again with a header, but Antonio Nusa responded with another equaliser for the German side.
Haaland eventually settled the contest by converting Elliot Anderson's low delivery to give City all three points.
Despite the victory, Guardiola's men remain behind Aston Villa, Barcelona and Como, who also have nine points but occupy higher positions in the standings.
Como are fourth with a goal difference of +13, Barcelona are fifth with +8, while Aston Villa are sixth with +6.
City have a goal difference of +5, placing them seventh.
Liverpool are immediately behind them in eighth position, also with nine points, following their 3-2 defeat against Fenerbahce.
The result means City have strengthened their position among the leading teams but still have work to do to break into the top six.
With four matches played, the English champions remain firmly in contention for a place in the knockout stages.
