Spanish football club UD Almería has announced a special gesture of support for the family of late CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel following his death earlier this week.
The club confirmed on Wednesday, November 4, that it would donate all revenue collected from ticket sales for its home match against CD Tenerife to support the bereaved family.
The fixture is scheduled for Matchday 34 of the Spanish second division. The decision was initiated by club president Mohammed Al Khereiji, who said the move was driven by the need to stand with members of the football community during difficult moments.
In its official statement, UD Almería acknowledged that no financial or emotional support could replace a loved one or remove the pain caused by such a loss. However, the club said it hoped the contribution would offer some assistance to De Miguel's family.
The Spanish side also extended an invitation to the player's relatives to attend the match, should their circumstances allow, as a further sign of solidarity.
De Miguel, 30, died on Tuesday, November 3, after being taken to hospital following an incident during Tenerife's league match against FC Andorra at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.
The incident occurred late in the game when the striker collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono while contesting a ball. The match was subsequently abandoned as medical teams attended to the player.
His death prompted messages of condolence from clubs and members of the football community, with tributes coming from across Spanish football.
UD Almería's announcement has also drawn attention because Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo holds a 25 per cent stake in the club. The ownership development was reported after Ronaldo acquired the shareholding earlier in 2026.
The initiative is another example of football clubs extending support beyond the pitch, particularly when tragedy affects players, families and supporters.
Although the donation cannot undo the loss suffered by De Miguel's relatives, the club hopes the proceeds from the match will provide practical assistance as they go through a difficult period.
