Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has hinted at plans to bring English Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal to Kenya for a friendly match in July 2027.

Speaking during a church service in Ikolomani, Kakamega County, on Sunday, November 8, Murkomen said President William Ruto would facilitate the high-profile encounter at the Raila Odinga International Stadium in Nairobi.

"Next year the president will bring Arsenal and Manchester United to play in Nairobi in July 2027," Murkomen stated.

The proposed fixture could take place shortly before the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Kenya will co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

Murkomen's remarks come ahead of the scheduled Bayern Munich versus AFC Ajax match on January 5, 2027, which will officially inaugurate the 60,000-seater stadium.

The CS revealed that the upcoming encounter had attracted international interest, with approximately 5,000 European football fans expected to travel to Kenya. Supporters from Nigeria and Egypt are also expected to attend.

The Bayern-Ajax match will feature both clubs' strongest possible starting elevens. Organisers are also planning a 12-hour fan festival featuring international artists and activities celebrating Kenyan culture.

President Ruto had previously expressed interest in hosting Manchester United and Arsenal in Kenya.
