Arsenal strengthened its position at the top of the Premier League table after Manchester City suffered a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, November 7. The result left Mikel Arteta’s side six points clear of their closest title rivals.
The Gunners moved to 27 points after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City. With nine wins from their opening 10 matches, Arsenal has built an impressive start to the campaign and conceded only five goals.
Manchester City, meanwhile, remained on 21 points after its disappointing afternoon at the City Ground. Nottingham Forest secured the victory through goals from Jair Cunha and Liam Delap, who scored twice to give the home side a major result.
The defeat also affected the bottom end of the standings. Forest climbed out of the relegation zone into 16th place with nine points, while Manchester United dropped to 18th on seven points ahead of Sunday's fixtures.
Elsewhere, Leeds United recorded a 1-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur to move into eighth place with 14 points. Tottenham slipped to 10th on 12 points after suffering their fourth defeat of the season.
Fulham and Newcastle United shared a point after playing out a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage. Newcastle moved to 11th with 12 points, while Fulham remained 15th on 10 points.
Attention now shifts to Sunday's remaining Matchweek 10 fixtures, which could change the standings further. Brighton, currently third with 19 points, can move above Manchester City if they defeat Brentford. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United also have important matches as they pursue their respective league targets.
Arsenal will therefore head into the international break with a substantial advantage, although several clubs still have an opportunity to reshape the table. City's response in the coming matches will be closely watched as the title race develops.
