Summer Shakeup: Why One of Mikel Arteta's Prime Investments Is Set for the Exit Door

Former Premier League striker and broadcast pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has delivered a scathing assessment of Viktor Gyökeres, declaring that the Swedish forward is "100%" guaranteed to be sold by Arsenal ahead of next season.

The €65 million signing has found starter minutes hard to come by and has struggled to establish consistent form in Mikel Arteta’s tactical framework.

Having slipped down the offensive pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, the striker's long-term future in North London is now under intense public scrutiny.

Agbonlahor did not hold back when evaluating the international forward's recent starting appearance against Everton. Speaking on air, the former Aston Villa attacker criticized Gyökeres' mobility and physical presence, remarking that he looked like he was "running in slow motion" during high-tempo passages of play.

While acknowledging that the forward possesses decent link-up play and hold-up capability, Agbonlahor insisted those attributes alone will not save him from being moved on by club hierarchy.

The pundit further revealed that Arsenal had actively explored alternative marquee options during prior transfer windows. Reports indicate that the Gunners pursued Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez as a premier target, but the Argentine striker ultimately turned down a return to the Premier League.

According to Agbonlahor, Arsenal's recruitment team would have gladly facilitated a player-plus-cash trade involving Gyökeres had that high-profile deal materialized.

With internal expectations remaining sky-high at Arsenal as they compete for domestic and European honors, roster spots remain exceptionally competitive.

Mikel Arteta's demand for relentless pressing, elite movement, and clinical finishing leaves little room for out-of-form forwards.

If recent performances and expert predictions are anything to go by, Arsenal could soon be sanctioning a major summer transfer to recoup funds and rebuild their front line.
