Gor Mahia Seek Redemption Against Nairobi United After KCB Setback

Gor Mahia will be looking to put their recent setback behind them when they take on Nairobi United in an FKF Premier League encounter at Wang'uru Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The defending champions suffered a 2-1 defeat against KCB in their previous league assignment, missing an opportunity to move clear at the top of the standings.

They now have 12 points from five matches, one behind leaders KCB, who have played six games.

A victory against Nairobi United would take K'Ogalo to 15 points and restore their position at the summit, putting pressure on their title rivals.

Coach's attention will also be on tightening the defence after the loss to KCB exposed weaknesses at the back.

The return of captain Sylvester Owino is expected to provide a boost as Gor seek a more convincing performance.

However, Nairobi United have proved to be a difficult opponent in recent meetings.

The two clubs have history from last season, when Naibois defeated Gor 2-1 in the 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup final.

They later spoiled the champions' league coronation celebrations with a 1-0 victory.

Gor Mahia will also come up against several familiar faces, including former Nairobi United captain Lesley Otieno and Enock Machaka, who now feature for the record Kenyan champions.

On the opposite side, Alphonce Omija, Gad Mathews and Benson Omalla will face their former employers.

Despite Nairobi United's difficult start to the season, Gor cannot afford to underestimate them.

The visitors are still searching for their first league win, but coach Patrick Aussems has promised a response.

The match kicks off at 4:15pm, with Gor Mahia needing all three points to keep their title defence on course and challenge for the league leadership.
