Laliga table after weekend matches:Barcelona lead cut after clasico defeat

The 2026/27 LaLiga title race was blown wide open this weekend after Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in El Clasico at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, October 26.

In the biggest match of the season so far, Kylian Mbappe scored twice to overturn Barcelona's lead and give Los Blancos a vital away win. The result ended Barcelona's perfect start after nine consecutive wins and brought them back within reach of their rivals.

Despite the loss, Barcelona remain top of the table after 10 games with 27 points. Hansi Flick's side have been the most prolific attack in Spain, scoring 40 goals with a goal difference of +29.

Just two points behind are Atletico Madrid on 25 points. Diego Simeone's men secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Deportivo on Saturday to keep up the pressure at the top. Atletico have conceded only eight goals in ten games, boasting the best defence in the league.

Real Madrid's Clasico victory was the game-changer. Carlo Ancelotti's side now sit third on 24 points from 10 games, with 25 goals scored and only 10 conceded. The three-point gap to Barcelona means the title race is now fully alive, with Atletico sandwiched between the two giants.

Behind the top three, Real Betis hold fourth place with 20 points after a 0-0 draw with Celta Vigo. Real Sociedad are fifth on 19 points following their 2-1 win over Levante, while Sevilla sit sixth on 17 points.

In the mid-table, Deportivo Alaves, Athletic Club, Celta Vigo and Villarreal are all locked on 12 points. Athletic Club were the biggest winners outside the top three, thrashing Getafe 4-0 at home on Sunday. Villarreal also picked up an important 2-1 away win at Valencia.

At the bottom end of the table, the struggle continues. Malaga CF remain bottom of the 20-team league with just 5 points from 10 matches, without a single win. Valencia are just above them in 19th with 6 points, while Espanyol sit in the relegation zone on 8 points.

The full Matchday 10 results were: Alaves 1-1 Malaga, Rayo Vallecano 0-3 Elche, Racing Santander 2-1 Espanyol, Valencia 1-2 Villarreal, Atletico Madrid 1-0 Deportivo, Athletic Club 4-0 Getafe, Celta Vigo 0-0 Real Betis, Real Sociedad 2-1 Levante, and Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid.
