Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick and captain Bruno Fernandes held clear-the-air talks at the club's training ground on Tuesday ahead of Saturday's match against Chelsea.
The 32-year-old midfielder had been dropped to the bench for Sunday's 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth after publicly criticizing Carrick's tactics following a 4-1 Champions League loss to Como.
Despite widespread expectations that Carrick would be dismissed following the Bournemouth defeat, the club's board opted to give the 45-year-old manager an opportunity to reverse United's fortunes as they languish in 16th place in the Premier League.
In a further boost ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo returned to training on Wednesday after a two-week injury absence.
