Liverpool eyeing stunning move for future superstar who Jurgen Klopp called a “powerhouse”

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a potential move for highly-rated Bayern Munich teenage midfielder Lennart Karl, journalist Christian Falk has claimed.

The 18-year-old is a player with a big future ahead of him, already making 51 appearances for Bayern and also winning four caps for Germany at senior level.

Writing on his website, Falk provided the latest on Karl’s situation at the Bundesliga giants, mentioning Liverpool as potential suitors, even though the plan isn’t to sell him:

“The latest Uli Hoeness statement on Lennart Karl was a typical one from the FC Bayern chief. He’s made similar kinds of comments in the past about previous Bayern players. I remember when he spoke out against Bastian Schweinsteiger when there was a special case about his behaviour off the pitch (dying his hair bleach-blonde and having black nails).

“Uli likes to push people’s buttons or, as we say in Germany, walk on the cookie until the sugar falls out. It’s the same case with Lennart Karl. It’s worth pointing out that Hoeness, who is on the supervisory board, isn’t involved in the daily business of the club. Those who are involved in the daily business are very confident in Karl. They want to keep him.

“Of course, the Premier League is also reading what is being said in Germany. I heard that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United saw that there is something going on around Lennart Karl.”

Lennart Karl would be a major coup for Liverpool

Karl is a player who can reach a world-class level over the next decade or so, standing out as a midfielder with so much to his game, and being lauded by Jurgen Klopp recently:

“When I saw Lennart in person for the first time and shook his hand, I realised: the lad is ready. He’s a real powerhouse and very confident, and he has a very pleasant manner. He’s also cheeky, which I like.”

But as things stand, it is hard to see Bayern selling Karl to anyone, considering what a prized asset he is, so this may have to be more of a pipe dream for Liverpool than anything.

If the chance ever did arise to sign him, though, the Reds should jump at the chance, with the German at his best in an attacking midfield role or on the right wing, bringing quality and versatility.
