British teenager Klugman wins Wrexham Open title

British teenager Hannah Klugman secured the biggest title of her career with a dominant performance against France's Elsa Jacquemot in the final of the Lexus Wrexham Open.

The 17-year-old produced a flawless campaign throughout the tournament, defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-4 to lift the W100 trophy without dropping a single set all week.

With this victory, Klugman becomes the second consecutive British player to claim the Wrexham title, following Welsh player Mimi Xu's win last year.

The triumph also marks a historic milestone for British tennis, making Klugman the youngest Briton ever to win a singles title at the W100 level or higher.

Klugman established control early in the match, putting immediate pressure on world number 157 Jacquemot from the opening game.

After failing to convert her first two break points, the Briton broke through two games later before securing a double break to comfortably take the opening set.

She maintained her momentum into the second set, racing to a commanding 5-1 lead. Although Jacquemot mounted a late comeback to close the gap to 5-4, the home favorite held her nerve and served out the victory on her second attempt.

Reflecting on her landmark victory, Klugman admitted to feeling the magnitude of the moment.

She shared that she was shaking after the match, but felt immensely happy and proud of her performance. She added that completing such an amazing week with a tournament win at this level represents a major milestone in her development as a young player.

British success at the Lexus Wrexham Open extended to the doubles competition as well. The duo of Freya Christie and Eden Silva capped off a strong tournament by defeating Japan's Hiroko Kuwata and India's Ankita Raina 6-2, 6-3 to capture the doubles title.
