Man Utd's dire run of form continued in London at the weekend
Manchester United have one win from nine Premier League games and sit outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.
Few would've thought that the 15th-place finish they recorded in 2025, with just 42 points, could ever be topped but Michael Carrick's side appear to be giving it a go.
Defeat at Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime was their fourth defeat in five games, they've not won a game since the second week of September and thoughts are beginning to turn to how bad could this really get.
United, 13-time winners of the Premier League, are one of only six teams to be present in the Premier League since its inception, but could they really get relegated? Former boss Erik ten Hag, the first to be sacked by the Ineos hierarchy, has said on the prospect of them going down: "In the Premier League it's certainly possible, because all the teams are simply strong.
"They're all strong squads, all good managers. And if you end up on the wrong side once and you really get into that vicious circle - yes, then it can become very, very difficult."
It would be remarkable. United have continued to invest huge sums, remain one of the biggest clubs in the world. Their relegation would be unlikely anything we've seen in English football, arguably topping Leicester's title win in terms of seismic shocks.
