Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi has warned football fans to be cautious of fake ticketing information ahead of the historic Bayern Munich versus Ajax Amsterdam clash at the Raila Odinga International Stadium.
The warning comes as excitement builds ahead of the January 5, 2027 international friendly, which will officially open the new 60,000-capacity stadium in Nairobi.
A poster circulating online purports to advertise tickets for the highly anticipated encounter, listing prices ranging from Ksh10,000 for regular seats to Ksh80,000 for VVIP tickets.
The poster also lists business tickets at Ksh22,000, VIP tickets at Ksh35,000, a couple package at Ksh65,000 and a group package at Ksh200,000.
However, the ticket details shown on the poster do not match the information published on the official Talanta Sports City platform.
The official website confirms that tickets for the Bayern Munich-Ajax match are being sold through the Talanta Sports City platform, with sales opening on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 6:00 pm EAT.
The official ticketing information also states that prices start from Ksh2,500, significantly lower than the Ksh10,000 starting price displayed on the circulating poster.
Fans have therefore been urged to verify ticket information before making any payments, particularly as the high-profile fixture is expected to generate huge interest locally and internationally.
Mwangi has been at the centre of preparations for the match, which the government views as an important test of Kenya’s ability to host major international sporting events ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The PS recently disclosed that Bayern Munich and Ajax had requested that at least 5,000 tickets be reserved for their supporters travelling to Kenya for the fixture. He said the expected influx of foreign fans could benefit the tourism, hospitality and transport sectors.
The two European giants confirmed the Nairobi fixture last week, with Bayern describing it as a special match to open the new national stadium and strengthen the club’s connection with its African supporters.
The January 5 encounter is also expected to feature local football giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards as part of the stadium-opening celebrations, according to Mwangi. He has further insisted that Bayern and Ajax are expected to bring their main teams rather than legends or reserve sides.
With the ticket sale set to open at 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2026, fans are advised to rely on the official Talanta Sports City platform for confirmed prices, payment instructions and ticket purchases rather than social media posters or unverified links.
The historic match will serve as one of Kenya’s major sporting events ahead of AFCON 2027, which Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
