Glasner’s dressing room war – Pundit calls out ‘bad apples’ as Forest boss demands overhaul

Oliver Glasner ripped into his underperforming Nottingham Forest players after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford.

Glasner said the defeat was inexcusable and has suggested that there will be changes when Forest face Manchester City at the City Ground on Saturday.

Normally calm and composed, Glasner was far from impressed with his players, and he’s admitted that the compromises he’d previously made with his players will now cease.

His comments have led to a number of people discussing them, with one pundit working for television overseas suggesting Glasner was spot on with his assessment.

Nigel Reo-Coker defends Oliver Glasner

Glasner really sounds fed up with his players. A fourth defeat in five matches has left Forest inside the relegation zone, and it already feels like another season of struggle is in store for the Reds.

Reo-Coker really liked Glasner’s comments on his Forest players, and the assessment that he’s drawn from it is that the Reds have a number of disruptive players in the dressing room right now.

He said on CBS Sports Golazo: “That’s brilliant; that’s a manager! I like it; I love him! Oliver Glasner has already shown us that he’s a straight shooter. The main word he used there was ‘compromise’.

“The manager has gone in there to a new club working out the dressing room and the characters he’s asked to deal with. He’s compromised on some things that he probably wouldn’t have done had he been at the club longer, so he’s moaning about his players, but now he’s got to the point where he’s so frustrated that he’s saying, ‘I tried to compromise now it’s not going to happen, I’m putting my foot down, and it’s either my way or the highway’.

“Look at the history of this club and where the club have been finishing, he’s going to clear out all the players who don’t have the right attitude. That is what you want from a manager, he’s letting us know that the standards inside that dressing room aren’t acceptable, and he’s telling us that there are some bad apples in that dressing room and he wants to get rid of them, that is what a real manager does.”

Only time will tell just how wise these comments have been from Glasner, with the Forest head coach needing to get back to work ahead of Saturday’s big game against Manchester City.

Glasner’s mask has slipped a bit from his calm and composed nature, and with other managers previously calling out the players, it remains to be seen how this will go for the Austrian.
