The emerging regional rivalry in the Mount Kenya region took centre stage in the top flight as FKF Premier League newcomers 3K FC defeated Murang’a SEAL 2–1 to claim three massive points and local bragging rights at a packed Embu Stadium on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Billed as a battle for regional dominance and a clash to crown the “ultimate King of the Mountain”, the clash lived up to expectations, backed by intense fan banter before and during the match.
Goals from Glen Yanick and Oscar Juma proved decisive for the hosts, while Michael Owen scored the sole consolation goal for Murang’a Seal.
Dennis Odhiambo, who entered the match brimming with confidence after netting seven goals in their opening fixtures, nearly had a dream start. Josephat Lopaga and Majaliwa Charo were guilty of missing early opportunities, with Charo forcing a tremendous save from 3K FC goalkeeper Emmanuel Kulwa.
Nicodemus Omasete’s side made the visitors pay for their missed chances, taking the lead in the 24th minute when Yanick found the opener to stun the visiting top-flight mainstays.
Things went from bad to worse for Murang’a SEAL minutes later when former Shabana striker Oscar Juma doubled the hosts’ lead.
A stunned Seal bench attempted to rejig their tactical setup by substituting Elly Saenyi for Elvis Simiyu, but 3K FC skipper Daniel Wabwire anchored the defense resiliently to preserve the 2–0 cushion going into the half-time interval.
Following the final whistle, the Embu-based side took to social media to crown themselves “Kings of the Mountain,” initiating what promises to be a long season of banter that Murang’a Seal must endure after losing the inaugural Premier League derby between the two sides.
The victory marks the first top-flight win for 3K FC following two draws in their opening fixtures, extending an impressive 13-match unbeaten streak that stretches back to last season’s promotion run.
Winning this historic first-ever derby provides the newcomers with the perfect launching pad for their campaign ahead.
