During draft night in 2022, the Charlotte Hornets made a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, acquiring No. 40 overall pick Bryce McGowens in exchange for No. 45 overall pick (Josh Minott) and a future second-round pick. Following the deal, McGowens spent two seasons with the Hornets, playing near the end of Charlotte's rotation.
In 105 games with the franchise, McGowens made 21 starts, averaging 5.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, one assist and 0.3 steals in 15.9 minutes per game. The Nebraska alum would latch on with the Portland Trail Blazers for his third season before joining the New Orleans Pelicans for the 2025-26 season. Last season with New Orleans, McGowens enjoyed a breakout campaign, averaging 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.6 steals. Still just 23 years old, McGowens recently started his second season with the Pelicans.
