In what was Rangers’ most comfortable league win of the season, Derek McInnes’s side ran out 4-0 victors against a fairly insipid St Johnstone. So Rangers v St Johnstone requires customary Ibrox Noise ratings.
Naturally, the visitors were not helped by a late and justified red card, but the game had long gone before then.
What of the players themselves? How does Ibrox Noise Rangers St Johnstone ratings for all the boys in blue today for what was, as we said, a comfortable victory?
Wasn’t called into much action at all. The defence in front of him pretty much did its job, give or take. He did require a few clearances and kicks to help keep his goal clean.
A fairly innocuous and pedestrian afternoon for the Croatian goalkeeper.
On the occasion of his 27th birthday, he would be glad that he didn’t really have much to do, apart from one diabolical pass from Minsu Kim early on, which he failed miserably to clear and instead fell all over the place.
That aside, once he regained his composure, it was a comfortable and routine afternoon for the birthday boy.
He wasn’t really tested in this one. Plenty of distribution, and only on one occasion did St Johnstone get the better of him and indeed his partner Fernandez.
It was a fairly sedate afternoon for the South African, who will have bigger battles to come. He’ll be glad to have got a better 90 minutes under his belt and a clean sheet.
Didn’t do much wrong, didn’t do much right.
As we’ve said before, the defence wasn’t really tested that much, but as we also mentioned, there were a few moments where St Johnstone did split the middle open quite easily.
Still lacks a bit of an understanding with Makhanya, mainly because he himself struggles with composure, but overall he’ll do worse.
One wild shot aside, it was another comfortable afternoon for the Rangers boyhood fan, who cannot to this day believe his luck to have secured the left back role for the team of his dreams.
He continues to put in a positive shift, always works hard and never lets his side down.
He’s been a great signing.
Not one of his better afternoons, in all fairness.
Once or twice he was guilty of complacency and had a few poor passes and lapses in concentration.
He didn’t appear to be that calm or dominant today. In general, while he didn’t do an awful lot hugely wrong, he certainly didn’t shine either.
Not a particularly standout display from the Belgian here, and after all the press hoo-ha from yesterday, this was not that surprising.
In the torrid conditions, he wasn’t really able to express himself and could have been badly hurt via ‘that’ tackle, albeit it wasn’t malicious.
But nevertheless, he’s had better matches than this.
An excellent display from the Korean, who still searches for that first goal, but did get an outstanding through ball, which provided Naderi with an assist.
It was a bright, enterprising display from Minsu. Sadly at the moment he still is not quite able to deliver a clinical assist or goal consistently. This is even though he’s working hard to try and achieve it.
But he played well in this one and was very, very bright. He was a big part of this match.
Was unfortunate not to score and maybe could have done better with one or two moments. However, his wing play was excellent, tricky in the first half. St Johnstone could not get a hand on him.
He did fade a little bit later in the first half and into the second. But overall he is justifying why he now has his place. There’s no question the boy has skill to burn.
This one could become a permanent signing if he starts playing more and continues like this.
A messy display from Naderi, as always. Clumsy, handled the ball once or twice, fell on his backside another couple of times, and of course his goal itself was either messy or a deft flick, depending on your point of view.
But of course he got an assist as well with some very unselfish play, so it’s a mixed bag.
He will never be composed and will always come across like Bambi on ice, but nevertheless it was effective: a goal and an assist, job well done.
By some utter distance the man of the match.
This was by far his best display and the strongest he’s been in the shirt. He finally showed the power that he has.
He’s been hiding it rather well. When he received the ball on his chest and held it up for a good transition towards Minsu Kim, he started demonstrating that he can be that strong target man, even if the move took place on the halfway line.
He got an excellent brace, which he can be thrilled with. And he was starting to look much more like the handful that we believe he is.
This was definitely a justified man of the match from both the sponsors and RTV.
He will be very happy with his afternoon.
Derek McInnes claimed on Friday that his Dundee team was correct. That he was quite happy and defended his selection. But by switching it back to the way it was before, he managed to get the result that he should have got last week.
It was an admission, if nothing else, that he was wrong.
Two up front with Kelsy and Naderi definitely works better. While he’s been unable to admit that he got it wrong last match, he’s made the correction quietly and fixed what was not broken in the first place.
So, with a 4-0 result and giving some minutes to Tochi Chukwuani and a few others, McInnes can be quite happy with how he managed this one.
This was better from him, and at the end of the day, football is a results driven business and a goals driven business, and his boys did it for him the way that he set them up.
This was a lot better from Derek McInnes.
Rangers St Johnstone ratings we hope hit the mark…
