Manchester United return to Premier League action against Bournemouth this weekend under pressure to respond.

10 players to miss Manchester united vs Bournemouth fixture

Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend knowing that another disappointing performance could deepen the uncertainty surrounding their season.

The 4-1 defeat to Como exposed serious weaknesses, leaving Michael Carrick with plenty to address before Bournemouth visit Old Trafford.

United have managed just seven points from their opening seven league matches and currently sit 13th in the table.

The pressure is therefore on the head coach to find a response, although his preparations have been complicated by a growing list of absentees.

Bournemouth will arrive after an impressive European night against AC Milan, giving them confidence despite their own injury concerns.

With both sides looking to improve their league position, fitness updates could have a major influence on Sunday’s contest.

Manchester United could be without as many as seven first-team players against Bournemouth, with Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez among those whose availability remains uncertain ahead of the Premier League clash.

Rashford missed the Como match because of a hip problem and needs to be assessed before Sunday.

His availability could be particularly important for United as they look to rediscover their attacking threat after a difficult night in Italy.

Martinez is another doubt after missing the European fixture with a thigh issue.

The defender was withdrawn at half-time against Leeds United the previous weekend, and Carrick must determine whether he is ready to return.

Manuel Ugarte is facing a lengthy absence after suffering a serious knee injury while representing Uruguay at the 2026 World Cup.

Kobbie Mainoo is dealing with an unspecified issue and Luke Shaw is facing a longer spell out, with his return potentially delayed until November.

Benjamin Sesko is still recovering from a recurrence of a shin problem that initially developed towards the end of last season.

Patrick Dorgu is also expected to miss several weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Denmark.

Bournemouth have their own selection concerns ahead of the trip to Old Trafford, with Julian Araujo, Alex Scott and Veljko Milosavljevic among the players listed as injured.

Araujo is recovering from a thigh or hamstring problem and was expected to remain sidelined into November.

His absence leaves Bournemouth without another option at right-back.

Scott has been dealing with a thigh injury, with manager Marco Rose indicating on 21 October that the midfielder would not be available for the next two weeks.

Milosavljevic has been sidelined with a knee injury, although reports have suggested that he has made progress in his rehabilitation.

Bournemouth’s league season has been less convincing, with six points from seven matches leaving them 15th in the table.

However, their European victory provides a timely confidence boost before Sunday’s meeting.
