Former Super League stalwart and ex-Hull FC prop Liam Watts has made a decision on his future and will continue his playing career into 2027.
A two-time Challenge Cup winner, Watts is as experienced as you can get and, having celebrated his 450th career appearance in 2026, has shown no signs of slowing down.
A former FC, Castleford Tigers and Hull KR man, the 36-year-old will continue on at the Goole Vikings, despite attracting “strong interest from a number of clubs,” per the Vikings’ statement.
Picking up the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year, Watts has been an incredible pick-up for the Championship outfit, who are now under new leadership with Brett Ferres at the helm.
Making his debut with Castleford in 2007, he moved to Hull KR the following seasons and stayed there until 2012, when he arrived across the city at Hull FC.
Playing 152 games for the Black and Whites, he would join Castleford part-way through 2018 and remained there until 2025, when he departed mid-season to rack up eight further FC matches.
Commenting on his new deal, Watts said: “I’m really grateful to have extended my stay for another year. It’s a club that’s growing in stature every year, and I’m so happy to be doing what I love for another season at the Vikings.
“Brett’s really invested in the pack this year, and it’s exciting to see so many young lads signed up that I can help develop and grow their skill sets.
“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season as it will almost definitely be my last year playing rugby.”
