Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 8: QB Edition

Some big-name quarterbacks who have put up great numbers most of the season will face some tough competition during Week 8. Take Jared Goff and Bryce Young, for instance. Goff has been electric all season, and Young has had a couple of stumbles, most recently against the Buccaneers in Week 7. These two will face the league's stingiest defenses in Green Bay and Minnesota, respectively. Does that warrant a sit? This week, it may, but will they make the list?

Names like Kyler Murray and Tanner McKee will face defenses that have given up a ton of points to opposing QBs. Every week is a gamble, especially if you have two or more of the aforementioned names listed above. Week 8 will provide some major opportunities. Our last weeks of Start/Sit listed names would have gotten you 16.5, 17.5, and 18.8. We'd like to see closer to 20 points, but we'll take it. Week 8 incoming...

Dak can get out in space and run a bit against the Arizona Cardinals if he wants. Last week, Bo Nix, who had struggled mightily this year, came away with a bunch of points against Arizona, which is a top-five matchup for opposing QBs. The Cowboys know how to spread the ball around and should have no difficulty doing it against the Cardinals.

I know what you're thinking. Really? Well yes. I am giving Murray the benefit of the doubt against a Detroit Lions team that has been atrocious against opposing QBs. Murray is averaging just under 12 points per game and is QB37 in points right now. Look, it boils down to this. Murray has the best matchup this week, and the Lions have given up north of 25 points per game to opposing QBs. It's worth it if your starter is on a bye.

I told you. We think outside the box and look beyond the superstars for (mostly) unlikely sources that can help you win your fantasy league. Eagles QB Tanner McKee has looked good so far, and gets a much easier test than the two previous in the Washington Commanders. Washington has given up 1600 yards to opposing quarterbacks and 15 touchdown passes.

If I am being honest, you may want to avoid any QB going against the Seahawks' defense the rest of the way. What scares me is that if any QB carves up Seattle's tenacious defense, it'll be someone like Caleb Williams. I just don't see it happening with the defensive tear Seattle is on.

Last season, I would have taken Nix at this point, but even though he is coming off his best output, something feels off in Denver this year. Kansas City just took one on the chin at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, and Mahomes will not be outplayed and will be looking to take the previous loss out on the Broncos.

I am big on streaks. I think that they will always end, and most obviously, they do. Goff has been playing lights out, and I even have him on my fantasy team, but I think the streak of no interceptions ends against the Brian Flores-led Minnesota Vikings defense. Although I think the Lions get the win, this week is a rare avoidance for Jared Goff.
