Lisandro Martinez hung Michael Carrick and Manchester United out to dry against Chelsea, and his manager had the perfect reaction to his sending off.

Another big defeat for Manchester United came on Saturday in London at Stamford Bridge, losing 2-0 to Xabi Alonso’s side. It was a much more even clash than the result indicates. United were brilliant in the first half.

But an early Morgan Rogers goal in the second-half followed by Lisandro Martinez getting himself a red card, meant Chelsea strolled to a pretty comfortable victory. As Martinez made his way down the tunnel, he was sent a strong message by Michael Carrick.

Lisandro Martinez sees RED as Manchester United LOSE to Chelsea: What is your INSTANT REACTION? What does this defeat mean for Michael Carrick? The players keep letting him down…

Michael Carrick couldn’t even look at Lisandro Martinez after his red card

United were playing really well against Chelsea, but poor defending gave Chelsea a 1-0 lead, and then Lisandro Martinez inexplicably got himself sent off. The Argentine got a yellow for a foul on Morgan Rogers, before moments later, he lashed out from a corner.

As the ball was whipped in, Martinez had no eyes for the ball, jumped straight at Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana, and forearmed him in the face. It looked intentional, and VAR reviewed the incident and got him sent off.

It was a horror moment from a senior and experienced player who has no excuse for his actions. Carrick was clearly disgusted with how Martinez let him and his players down as the Argentine walked toward the tunnel, the TV cameras honed in on Carrick, and he sat with his notepad, not even glancing at Martinez.

Carrick would be right to be annoyed, frustrated, and sickened by Martinez for this, as it effectively ended any chance of United coming back into the game, and it could cost him his job.

Martinez showed blatant disrespect for the badge and his colleagues just weeks after he called out the club and stated the team isn’t good enough. Yet ironically, he is one of the biggest problems.

The defender shouldn’t play for the club again after this red card as it shows an absolute disrespect for the manager, club, and his teammates.
