‘We can lose any game, we can win any game’ – Amorim urges consistency from Milan

Ruben Amorim has called on his AC Milan players to find consistency after a poor start to their Europa League campaign.

Milan have won just one of their opening three league-phase games this season, defeating Salzburg between losses to Benfica and Bournemouth.

Since winning five consecutive Champions League games between October 2024 and January 2025, Milan have only won one of their last six European matches (D1 L4).

And things do not get any easier for the Rossoneri, who host Ferencvaros on Thursday.

Ferencvaros have a 100% record in the Europa League this season (3/3). The last time they won four consecutive matches in major European competition was in the 1967-68 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, when they won six in a row en route to reaching the final.

However, after winning the Derby della Madonnina on Saturday, Amorim wants to see his Milan side continue their momentum.

"This is the Europa League. For us, it's a very important game. More than the result, we need to maintain that consistency," said Amorim.

"We were consistent during the game. It's a big step we need to have. Doesn't matter rotations, players on the pitch.

"We need to be a very good team and win, and our goal is to go all the way in this competition.

"We can lose any game; we can win any game. This is the characteristic of this team. It depends on how we face the game.

"It doesn't matter if it's Serie A, Serie B, or Europa League. We can win any game and, at the same time, lose any game.

"Especially now that everyone knows everyone, the players have technical abilities, and coaches have the tools and footage to prepare for the games."

Milan's only previous games against Hungarian opposition were both against Gyori ETO in the last 16 of the 1967-68 Cup Winners' Cup, with both of those games ending in draws (2-2 in Hungary, 1-1 in Italy).

Ferencvaros' only away win against an Italian side was in March 1965, beating Roma 2-1 in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. They are winless in four away games against Italian opponents since then (D2 L2).
