Thomas Tuchel has upset several Chelsea supporters after leaving Cole Palmer out of his latest England squad. The 25-man group will take on Croatia and Spain in the Nations League during the November international break.
Palmer has registered three goals and three assists in nine Premier League appearances this season, but that has not been enough to earn a place. Tuchel said he wanted to stick with the players who impressed during the previous camp, when the 24-year-old withdrew due to injury and workload management.
However, that explanation has not gone down well with some Blues fans, particularly given that Tuchel has also called up Jobe Bellingham and Josh King for the first time. The former Chelsea manager’s decision has prompted plenty of criticism on TalkingPoints.

Cole Palmer and three other Chelsea stars snubbed! What do you make of Thomas Tuchel's England squad? 🤔 Morgan Rogers does makes the squad, though.
Thomas Tuchel, who led Chelsea to the Champions League in 2021, insisted he was happy with the players who featured in the previous international break. He explained: “We have enough number 10s and we stick to the guys who were in the previous camp because we were happy with the two and a half weeks we had together.”

However, Tuchel’s decision to call up six attacking midfielders has made that explanation harder for some Chelsea supporters to accept. One TalkingPoints user even referenced England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina, claiming Tuchel should have been sacked after the team went out with a whimper. They wrote: “Sack him ASAP.”

Tuchell is an idiot. He should had been fired after losing to Argentina in the World Cup. He snubbed Palmer for the World Cup. Then he wanted Palmer to play in the UEFA Nation League, but Palmer decided not play because of nagging injuries. And now, Tuchell leaves him out to get back at Palmer. He’s better not playing for England until Tuchell is gone

Another criticised the manager for repeatedly messing Palmer around, having also left him out of his World Cup squad. They suggested the midfielder was “better not playing” until Tuchel is gone.

Not everyone was unhappy, though. Some Chelsea fans welcomed the opportunity for Palmer to rest, particularly after his injury-hit campaign last season, when he missed several games and often looked short of his best. One supporter wrote: “I don’t want injuries derailing our season.”
