Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (25) may have sustained an ACL injury on Tuesday, but that has not changed Paris Saint-Germain’s plans to extend his contract, as per a report from RMC Sport.
Kvaratskhelia, a nominee for this season’s Ballon d’Or award, was a key figure in PSG’s successful attempt to defend their UEFA Champions League title last season. If Les Parisiens are to make it three in a row, they will have to do it largely without the Georgia international. He sustained an ACL injury during the 4-2 win over Barcelona on Tuesday. He will undergo his an operation in the coming days and is expected to miss the majority, if not the entirety, of the season.
Prior to that blow, Kvaratskhelia was locked in contract extension talks with PSG. His current deal at the Parc des Princes runs until 2029. This week’s news has not changed PSG’s plans. The French club are looking to extend the winger’s deal until 2032. They want to make him one of the top earners at the club.
