Emma Raducanu shows off gym routine as former US Open champion edges towards tennis return

Brit Harriet Dart wins first title of her career and joins Emma Raducanu and Sue Barker in exclusive list

EMMA RADUCANU has given a clear sign that she is ready to play tennis again – as she ditches the moon boot for good.

The British sporting superstar has been sidelined since June 14 as she recovers from a grade-four stress fracture in her right leg.

Raducanu, 23, is finally nearing a return from injury

Three separate videos posted on her Instagram account, which has 2.8million followers, showed her jumping up and down in the gym at the LTA’s National Tennis Centre in south-west London.

The impact of those routines show that she has gained strength in her right leg and the healing process is almost complete.

The footage is accompanied by the song JUMP by electronic music duo me n ü and the lyrics to that dance tune are poignant to her current state of mind.

They go: “You gotta just go for it. Don’t think about what comes after or what came before.

“You just gotta bend your knees, take a deep breath, and jump.”

In other photos posted on her social media account, Raducanu – who turns 24 this month – can be seen on an exercise bike and hitting serves on a practice court.

There had been snaps of her in a protective boot in the days after she suffered the injury – which ruled her out of Wimbledon and the US Open – following a slip during her run to the final of the WTA Queen’s event.

Yet this is the most positive sign so far that she can play again soon – albeit she will have to wait now until January 2027.

Raducanu could be back in action in Australia

It has been a terrible year for Raducanu – during which she lost in the second round of the Australian Open, first round of the French Open and contracted a viral illness after losing to Sorana Cirstea in the Transylvania Open final.

She did agree to work again with coach Andrew Richardson, the man who masterminded her stunning US Open victory in New York in 2021.

The prolonged absence from tennis means that next year she can apply for a protected ranking, which is allocated to those who have been out with injury for six months or more.

She has fallen to 106th in the world ranking and without this protected status, she would have to go through qualifying at the Australian Open in Melbourne – unless she was given a wildcard.
