Aberdeen v Hibernian - commentary from Pittodrie

I hope the Aberdeen executive that wouldn’t sanction an extra year for McGrath is squirming in his seat. More quality than our whole squad. Ridiculous we let him go.

Stephen Robinson has to go. This Aberdeen is a shambles, zero improvement, team is poor. The man should not have ever been considered for the job. Cormack get it sorted, this is your fault for the nonsense appointment in the first instance. Shambles.

He's angry with himself, Martin Boyle. He's still talking to himself, having a go at himself, looking at the sky.

It should have found the back of the net. It's such a big opportunity and it falls perfectly to him, not under too much pressure.

The budget, the fanbase that both these clubs have - it is simply unacceptable they're both in the bottom three.

Both managers know that - one only just in the door, trying to find his way.

Stephen Robinson had a period last season of trying to calm the nerves of the Aberdeen fans.

Clever defending from Martin Moormann to prevent a certain United goal.

Motherwell goalkeeper Alex Paulsen comes out for another corner, United make the first contact and the ball is net bound.

However, defender Moormann, now wearing the captain's armband, peels on to the goal line to clear!

Kai Fotheringham cuts out a slack Dundee pass and gets on his bike.

The forward plays Josh Campbell in behind and the midfielder can only manage to scoop his effort into the side netting.

There were a couple of blue shirts waiting in the box, so if he'd managed to cut that back across goal, St Johnstone would probably be back in front.

I can only hope that the second half is more like the first five minutes rather than the last 40 of the first.

St Johnstone will be delighted with things, but there's been a lack of cutting edge from both teams.

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley spoke beforehand about the players he's had to leave out. It would be a good day for one of them to step up.

Could one goal be enough for St Johnstone?

Dundee look like they're starting to kick into gear now.

First, Alan Forrest has a pop from the edge of the box, but the ball is easily caught by goalkeeper Ross Sinclair.

They charge forward again and Ethan Hamilton clumsily takes the ball down inside the St Johnstone box before driving a low shot towards the near post, which Sinclair has to scramble behind.

Hamilton delivers the resulting corner, but it's easily dealt with by the hosts.

I don't think Simo Valakari was too happy when I pointed out their recent record against Dundee before the match, but they've started brilliantly here.

Great cross, great header, great goal. That's from a St Johnstone perspective of course.

I doubt Steven Pressley will overly happy with the defending and in fact he's got all his players over for a chat during this break in play. That tells its own story!

Having drawn blanks in their showdown last weekend, the top two in the fourth tier will be hoping to make full use of home advantage.

Stranraer, leaders on goal difference, host a Stirling Albion side who thumped Forfar Athletic 5-2 last weekend but were then thrashed 7-3 by League 1 hosts East Kilbride in the Challenge Cup in midweek.

Clyde, meanwhile, host fourth-top Spartans, with Elgin City, three points behind the leading two, also at home - to Dumbarton
