UCF QB Alonza Barnett returns after Keyone Jenkins injury vs. Baylor

ORLANDO — For the first time since Week 2, Alonza Barnett III is in the game for the UCF Knights.

Quarterback Keyone Jenkins needed help off the field and entered the medical tent on the team’s opening drive of the second half against Baylor on Oct. 30. Jenkins tried to escape pressure and stayed down after taking a hit on a screen pass, which was dropped by running back Duke Watson.

Barnett, who had not played since the Knights’ Sept. 12 game at Pittsburgh, immediately warmed up. He was listed as a game-time decision with a hamstring injury.

Barnett then entered after the Bears extended their lead to 27-6 with 10:07 left in the third quarter.

Jenkins, a 6-foot, 200-pound senior, completed 14 of 21 passes for 82 yards with one interception. He shined in the team’s upset win over BYU on Oct. 24, throwing for 293 yards and accounting for four total touchdowns.
