Manchester United teen wantaway JJ Gabriel wants a move to Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan and Dharmesh Sheth.
Gabriel turned 16 last month after requesting to leave United in September.
The English teen phenom was reportedly upset that the Red Devils failed to deliver on promises of more first-team opportunities, causing problems between the player’s family and the Premier League club.
The report says that Real want to sign Gabriel in January in order to fast-forward the end of his academy contract set to expire at the end of the season. It also says that United and Real have not yet spoken directly
As with any 16-year-old — especially one barely into the age bracket — there are a load of variables that could affect him.
For one thing, he’s potentially moving across the continent during his school years.
Gabriel hasn’t played for United since September, but had scored five goals with two assists in three appearances between a UEFA Youth League hat trick against Sabah FK and blowout Premier League 2 wins over the U21 sides of Ipswich and Leicester.
An attacking midfielder, Gabriel has appeared at the U15, U16, and U17 levels for England. He tore up the U18 Premier League despite his tender age last season, scoring 23 goals with three assists in 23 appearances.
He hit the ground running so early in the U18 Premier League in 2024-25, too, when he was still 14 — scoring three goals in three games.
There are no sure things, but this is special stuff.
