Liverpool v Brighton & Hove Albion: Pre-match Analysis
Anfield prepares for its latest test

Liverpool host Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on Sunday afternoon and it should be a cracker. The 2pm kick off will feature two teams who thrive on entertaining their crowds. Liverpool will want to secure their first home league win of the season, whilst Brighton will want to continue being the best in-form club in the country.

Last time out in the Premier League, Liverpool beat Brentford 2-1 and Brighton beat their rivals, Crystal Palace 5-0. Both teams have been in good form recently, winning four each of their last five games. Liverpool beat Villarreal in the Champions League 4-3 on Tuesday evening, whilst a much changed Brighton drew 0-0 away to Jablonec in the Conference League.

Liverpool’s Squad State

The Reds will be without Dominik Szoboszlai, Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni for the game on Sunday. Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz came off the bench on Tuesday night and should be in prime position to reclaim a starting berth for this match. The talk is that Milos Kerkez will return to the left back role, whilst the midfield two is likely to be Alexis MacAllister and Ryan Gravenberch. Victor Münoz is fifty fifty for the game after a knock against Brentford last Saturday.

Brighton's Squad State

Brighton rested a whole host of players on Thursday night with Lewis Dunk, Charalampos Kostoulas not even getting off the match, where central defender Luka Vuskovic played twenty-two minutes and Pascal Grob and Jack Hinshelwood both playing sixty-eight minutes. Brighton will be without Evan Ferguson, Stefanos Tzimas, Yankuba Minteh, Matts Wieffer,Femi Azeez and Kaoru Mitoma for Sunday's game, whilst Jason Steele and Pascal Struijk will have late fitness tests ahead of the match.

The Match

We will see two sides who want to play football on the front foot and both managers want to win games by playing front-footed aggressive football. Liverpool have not won a home league game since April 25th so that is almost six months and will be keen to win this one, with Arsenal at Anfield in the following week.

Brighton have already scored 25 goals this Premier League season and had notable wins against Aston Villa and Arsenal, where they were unfortunate not to score more in both.

We will see an attacking game with quite a few chances and goals and a game that all football supporters can enjoy.
