12 months ago Martin O’Neill was Celtic’s saviour, but now the Hoops need someone to rescue them following a dreadful run of form.

Defeat against Falkirk means that Celtic have now only won three of their previous 10 games in all competitions and there are serious doubts about whether the Northern Irishman is the man to lead the Hoops forward.

Celtic are top of the league, for now, but if they don’t address things soon, that position may no longer be theirs. So, if the board makes a change, here are three managers that could replace O’Neill and shake things up at Celtic Park.

Julio Velazquez – Levski Sofia

The first option is a bit of a left-field one as we head to Bulgaria and look at the job being done by Julio Velazquez at Levski Sofia in Bulgaria.

Velazquez ended Ludogarets’ 14 years of dominance to win the Bulgarian top flight and bring Champions League football back to the side.

They came very close but have made a solid start in the Europa League too, beating Viktoria Plzen away. Not only is he used to being at a club expected to win titles, he is also capable of getting his sides to compete in Europe.

Kieran McKenna – Free agent

Kieran McKenna is available after leaving Ipswich Town in the summer after saying he needed some time away.

McKenna has been linked with Celtic before but no links ever advanced any further than paper talk. In the past he has been tipped to become the manager of Chelsea and Manchester United but taking the reins in Glasgow would be a big opportunity to prove himself.

His style of football is an attractive brand and one that supporters could get behind. However, due to a clause in Ipswich’s contract, compensation would still be required.

Dick Schreuder – NEC Nijmegen

Dick Schreuder’s NEC Nijmegen have been electric to watch in the Eredivise and is one that would be most welcomed in Glasgow.

Ange Postecoglou is unlikely to ever return, but that attacking philosophy is one that Hoops fans have yearned for ever since his departure,

Schreuder may not bring a copy and paste version of it but NEC are competing in Europe and he may be able to bring that spark back to the Bhoys.
