All of the Women's Premier League (WPL) teams are set for the upcoming season as they have confirmed their full squads on October 28. There were 150 players who tried their luck in the mini auction, which was held tonight in Kochi. Among those one hundred and fifty players, only a select few have been able to make their place in the teams.

As all of the WPL franchises retained their key players ahead of the auction, there were only a limited number of slots available for the fresh talents. Only 27 slots were available across the five franchises. Australia women's cricket team captain Sophie Molineux attracted the highest bid from the UP Warriorz, which was INR 1.10 crore.

Focus was on the WPL defending champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Because of the limited number of vacant spots and the limited amount in the purse, most of the franchises aimed to secure their players for only INR 10 lakh. There were multiple players who got their new WPL contracts for that amount. Kiran Navgire, who has joined the Delhi Capitals (DC), got INR 75 lakh, the second-highest bid in the auction.

All eyes were on the WPL 2026 defending champion, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). They claimed the trophy, defeating DC in the WPL 2026 final match. RCB has signed only four players, including the inclusion of the experienced Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen for INR 40 lakh.

Mumbai Indians spent their money smartly

Meanwhile, as the Mumbai Indians (MI) needed to add more players to their squad, they utilised their available money very smartly. They have signed six players from the auction, and all of them joined for INR 10 lakh. Ahead of the players' auction, MI signed Tara Norris from the UP Warriorz through a trade deal.

UP Warriorz is probably the most active franchise in the auction room, as they have successfully cashed in for eight new players, including Sneh Rana, Sophie Molineux, and Sushma Verma
