Here are the Crystal Palace player ratings from that performance.
Starting XI
Dean Henderson (8) - Prevented the scoreline from being much worse, made seven saves overall.
Jaydee Canvot (5) - Spent much of the game in his own six-yard box, failed to clear the header, which led to Van Hecke’s goal.
Chris Richards (5) - Had the joint most defensive contributions with 15, but questions will arise over the marking for Gray’s opening goal.
Axel Disasi (5) - Managed 14 defensive contributions, including three blocks and one tackle.
Óscar Mingueza (4) -First start in the Premier League but had a tough game up against Mathys Tel and Andy Robertson.
Tyrick Mitchell (5) - Regularly looked to try and create an attacking opportunity, but also had a tough evening against Mohammed Kudus.
Adam Wharton (5) - Only managed 35 touches, had a couple of moments in possession, but with 10 men, it was always going to be a tough afternoon for Wharton to create anything.
Daichi Kamada (5) - Provided his side’s only shot on target in the 10th minute; otherwise, a lot of his work happened in the defensive area.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (3) - Sent off after 10 minutes for a very late challenge on Micky van de Ven. Proved to be costly for Palace.
Dwight McNeil (4) - Had a big chance in the second half to level the game, replaced after 77 minutes for Darío Osorio.
Yéremy Pino (4) - Spent much of his hour on the pitch helping in defence, managed just 35 touches throughout.
Substitutes:
Eddie Nketiah (5) - Came on in the 60th minute but only managed 11 touches.
Anan Khalaili (5) - Replaced Mingueza and was skinned late on by Luca Williams-Barnett, only for Kudus to miss the open net.
Will Hughes (5) - Replaced Wharton in the 88th minute.
Jefferson Lerma (5) - Replaced Kamada late on, played in a more traditional midfield role compared to the centre-back role he played against Fulham last Wednesday.
Darío Osorio (5) - On for Dwight McNeil and only managed 10 touches.
